Project Overview

Bacviet Shiprepair carried out an underwater inspection at Nghi Son Port, Vietnam, for MV DYNA FORTUNE on 27 February 2026. The assignment provided the vessel owner with photographic and CCTV evidence of the underwater hull, propulsion components and other submerged structures without requiring dry-docking.

During the inspection, the diving team identified ropes entangled around the propeller rope guard. The obstruction was removed during the diving operation. No apparent damage was observed on the propeller blades, underwater hull plating, bilge keels or rudder at the time of inspection.

The completed inspection report also documented the condition of the hull coating, sea chest gratings, transducer and marine growth across the inspected areas.

Preparing the Vessel for Safe Underwater Inspection

Before diving commenced, the vessel officers and diving supervisor completed a joint safety review and confirmed that the underwater working area was properly controlled.

The main engine, propeller and steering gear were secured against accidental operation. Relevant pumps, overboard discharges and underwater electrical equipment were isolated as required. Diving signals were displayed, communication was established between the vessel and dive team, and nearby service craft were informed of the diving operation.

The divers also checked their communication equipment, first-aid arrangements and emergency equipment before entering the water.

Photographs and CCTV footage were collected to support the written findings and allow the vessel technical management to review the condition remotely.

Propeller and Rope Guard Inspection

MV DYNA FORTUNE was fitted with a single four-bladed propeller. All four blades were visually inspected on the pressure and suction sides. The blades were found in normal visible condition, with no recorded evidence of cracking, pitting, erosion, tears or previous repair. The boss cone and cement covers were intact, and no oil leakage was observed from the propeller shaft.

The divers discovered ropes entangled around the propeller rope guard. The material was removed during the diving operation, after which the area was visually rechecked. This finding provided an immediate operational benefit in addition to the condition record produced by the inspection

Underwater Hull Plating and Coating Condition

The diving team examined the bulbous bow, vertical sides, flat bottom, keel plate and accessible underwater weld seams. No apparent damage was recorded on the port or starboard vertical sides, flat bottom or keel plate. No visible cracks were identified, and the visible hull weld seams were assessed as satisfactory.

The vessel self-polishing copolymer antifouling coating was assessed as being in fair general condition. No visible peeling, blistering, coating cracks, corrosion, mechanical damage or grounding damage was recorded during the survey.

Bilge Keels, Sea Chest Gratings and Transducer

Both bilge keels were inspected along their accessible lengths. Four bilge-keel sections were recorded on each side, with no apparent damage or visible cracks identified at the inspected weld connections.

One sea chest grating was identified on the port side and two gratings on the starboard side. The gratings were intact, with securing wires and locking arrangements in place, and their overall condition was assessed as fair. The emergency sea chest and underwater transducer were photographed; the transducer was recorded as being in good condition.

The diving team checked the sea chest gratings, securing arrangements and surrounding hull areas.

Rudder Condition

The rudder blade, rudder horn and visible rudder-stock areas were inspected for damage and signs of cracking. The rudder plate was found in good visible condition, with no recorded damage or cracks. The rudder plugs were intact, and the rudder was considered to be in normal condition at the time of inspection.

Marine Growth Findings

The diving team recorded approximate marine growth on representative underwater areas. The findings were intended to support future maintenance planning; underwater hull cleaning and propeller polishing were not included in this assignment.
